I used brown paper tied with twine string. Like the the Julie Andrews Song in the Sound of Music. All compostable or reusable plus it just quirky enough now that people like.

I trying to bring the wife to my point of view and as you can see I got here about half way there. She reused odds and ends of non compostable/recyclable wrapping paper. so close...
So I am going to be a bit of Grinch with this article on this Christmas Eve.

I know its the holidays and I should be joyous and happy with all the things and loved ones I am getting to enjoy this time of year but that is hard for me to do do to one simple fact.

Americans Throw out 25% more trash between Thanksgiving and New Years Day.  That amounts to 25 millions tons more garbage generated during that time of year.

For someone like me that is trying to live a 3 R lifestyle (Reduce, Reuse Recycle) the waste of this time of year is troubling.  To that end I just wanted to remind people out there to be conscious of what they buying, Christmas cards they are sending and how they are wrapping and disposing of gifts and Christmas trees this time of year.

For a few ideas on some options for reducing waste and reusing things this time of year check out these articles.

Here we are at the end of December and for most us were are long past the end of the growing season and we are enjoying the fruits of our labor.  Maybe you are the type of person that is saying finally I can take break and relax a bit or maybe you are like me and are bemoaning the lack or warm sun and rainy nights that led to such a beautiful outside garden.
Even though the weather is getting colder and you know the frost is coming fear not because you can continue to grow delicious food inside your home.  With today’s LED light technology it is easier and cheaper than ever before to set up a system for growing food inside all winter long.
